Mezzanine Floors UK

Mezzanine floor removal

Mezzanine floor removal is the safe dismantling and clearance of an unwanted mezzanine, usually at a lease end, a refit or before a new layout. We dismantle in a planned sequence, take the steel away for reuse or recycling, and make good the floor slab where the column base plates were fixed.

How we approach mezzanine floor removal

Taking a mezzanine down is structural work and needs the same planning as putting one up. We produce a method statement and dismantling sequence so the structure stays stable throughout, isolate any services fixed to it, and protect the building and racking around the work area.

Steel that is in good condition can be reused, which can reduce the cost of removal. The rest is recycled. After the base plates are removed we cut back or remove fixings and patch the slab so the floor is ready for the next use.

If the mezzanine has fire protection, lighting or partitions, we strip those first, separate waste streams and dispose of them properly.

Questions people ask

How long does it take to remove a mezzanine?

A small storage mezzanine is often removed in one to two days; larger or fire-protected floors take longer.

Is there value in an old mezzanine?

Sometimes. Good-condition bolted steel can be reused or relocated, which can offset part of the removal cost.

Do you make good the floor afterwards?

Yes. We remove the anchor fixings and patch the slab where the base plates were.
